What day of the week is it?

Our only frame of reference is the fact that we had our JOE Friday Pub Quiz yesterday, so that would make today Saturday.

So here are the movies on TV on this most peculiar of Saturdays…

Kung Fu Panda – RTÉ One – 6.35pm

This is a lot of fun. If you’re watching it with kids they’ll love it and you won’t be bored either.

X-Men: Apocalypse – RTÉ2 – 9.15pm

It’s got a great cast.

The Specialist – Virgin Media One – 10.30pm

It has 7% on Rotten Tomatoes.

A Man of No Importance – TG4 – 9.15pm

A middle-aged Dublin bus conductor with a passion for the writings of Oscar Wilde causes controversy when he attempts to stage Wilde’s Salome in this period drama set in early 1960s Dublin.

Well worth a look. Charming and, at times, heart wrenching.

Avengers Assemble – BBC One – 7pm

For superhero fans, it was the long awaited arrival which pleased viewers and earned $1.5 billion in the Box Office.

Diego Maradona – Channel 4 – 9pm

A look at the career of celebrated football player Diego Armando Maradona.

Hell Or High Water – Channel 4 – 11.35pm

Toby and Tanner rob banks as they can’t afford their mortgage payments anymore. Everything goes as planned until the police is hot on their trail.

Channel 4 are killing it with the movies today. A brilliant cast (Chris Pine, Jeff Bridges), great movie. Watch it if you’re still up.

The Lost World: Jurassic Park – ITV2 – 6.25pm

The second in the original series. Have seen it more times than I’m prepared to admit. May flick over again.

Non-Stop – Film4 – 6.40pm

Liam Neeson plays Bryan Mills, just in a different movie to Taken.

Deadpool – Film4 – 9pm

A superhero movie, just not as you expect it.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
