There are a lot of good options on tonight.
Whether you’re a dyed-in-the-wool Star Trek nerd, a supporter of Irish cinema, a lover of easy-going comedy or in the mood for a feel-good sports movie, there are some very good ways to waste away this evening in front of the box.
We’ve picked out a few of the very best movies that are on TV tonight to help you make your decision.
Star Trek: Generations & Star Trek: First Contact – 7:00pm/9.30pm – SyFy
It’s a great day for the nerds. SyFy will be hosting a double-bill of Picard-era films… Though Generations does see his predecessor James T. Kirk (played by William Shatner) show up. Certainly a night for staying in if you’re a Trekkie. Though they stay in every evening, right? I’m sorry.
Meet The Parents – 9:00pm – Sky One
Of all Robert De Niro’s many accolades, he surprisingly was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the Golden Globes for his role as Ben Stiller’s would-be father-in-law. Definitely a progenitor of a decade-and-a-half of Will Ferrell, Ben Stiller, Paul Rudd and Seth Rogen movies.
Inside I’m Dancing – 9:30pm – TG4
An Irish-made movie about a young man with cerebral palsy and his friend with muscular dystrophy, played by a young James McAvoy in a breakthrough role. Definitely not the most comfortable film that’s on the box tonight but certainly worth a watch.
Rocky III – 11:15pm – ITV4
Definitely not the best Rocky film there is, but also not the worst. This is the one where he fights Mr. T, who plays Clubber Lang — an arrogant young fighter who introduced the world to the phrase “I pity the fool.”
