Whether you're a dyed-in-the-wool Star Trek nerd, a supporter of Irish cinema, a lover of easy-going comedy or in the mood for a feel-good sports movie, there are some very good ways to waste away this evening in front of the box.
We've picked out a few of the very best movies that are on TV tonight to help you make your decision.
Star Trek: Generations & Star Trek: First Contact - 7:00pm/9.30pm - SyFy
It's a great day for the nerds. SyFy will be hosting a double-bill of Picard-era films... Though Generations does see his predecessor James T. Kirk (played by William Shatner) show up. Certainly a night for staying in if you're a Trekkie. Though they stay in every evening, right? I'm sorry.
Meet The Parents - 9:00pm - Sky One
Of all Robert De Niro's many accolades, he surprisingly was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the Golden Globes for his role as Ben Stiller's would-be father-in-law. Definitely a progenitor of a decade-and-a-half of Will Ferrell, Ben Stiller, Paul Rudd and Seth Rogen movies.
Inside I'm Dancing - 9:30pm - TG4
An Irish-made movie about a young man with cerebral palsy and his friend with muscular dystrophy, played by a young James McAvoy in a breakthrough role. Definitely not the most comfortable film that's on the box tonight but certainly worth a watch.
Rocky III - 11:15pm - ITV4
Definitely not the best Rocky film there is, but also not the worst. This is the one where he fights Mr. T, who plays Clubber Lang — an arrogant young fighter who introduced the world to the phrase "I pity the fool."
Written by an Irishman, the movie was only out in cinemas a few weeks ago. Prime Video has just added Mercy, the 2026 sci-fi action thriller starring Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy, The Terminal List). The movie is set in a near-future Los Angeles, which has taken radical steps to combat crime levels surging […]
Holding an 85% Rotten Tomatoes score, the film is ‘based on an unbelievable true story’. Our TV movie pick for tonight (Tuesday, 24 March) is American Made, the 2017 action crime comedy thriller loosely based on real events. The film follows an American pilot (Oscar-nominee Tom Cruise, Born on the Fourth of July) in the […]
Featuring four massive stars, the Western was made by the same director as some of the most famous James Bond films. Red Sun, the 1971 cult classic spaghetti Western with an all-star cast, is airing on TV today (Tuesday, 24 March). Set in the 1870s in the Old West, the movie follows two bandits: Link […]
