Netflix announces surprise new Stranger Things live-action show

Billed as a 'new chapter of Stranger Things', here's everything we know so far.

From Stranger Things' creators, the Duffer Brothers, and their long-time collaborator on the series, Kate Trefry, the prequel is set in 1955 in the town of Marion, Nevada, decades before the original.

Netflix announces Other Worlds, a Stranger Things prequel series.

Though details about the upcoming show are being kept under wraps, the Duffer Brothers teased in a statement: "It’s Stranger Things, but also thrillingly fresh, with a new setting, new heroes and villains, and new … actually, we’re not allowed to say any more.

"Now, on to casting. In the meantime — watch the skies, nerds!”

Production on Other Worlds will take place in New Mexico. The series' first three episodes will be helmed by the acclaimed director Joe Wright (Atonement, Pride & Prejudice).

Billed as a "new chapter of Stranger Things", Other Worlds will arrive on Netflix sometime in 2028. Check out a teaser for the series below:
