Our TV movie pick for tonight (Wednesday, 4 November) is Pig, the stunning 2021 drama starring Nicolas Cage (The Surfer).
The Oscar winner plays Rob, a former chef living a reclusive existence deep in the Oregon wilderness. He supports himself by foraging for truffles with the help of his beloved pig.
One night, however, Rob is attacked by assailants who steal the animal. This leads him to return to the city he once called home in an effort to get it back.
What begins as essentially "John Wick but with a pig instead of a dog" quickly evolves into a beautiful, haunting meditation on love, grief and regrets. This is as we learn more about Rob's past while he embarks on an odyssey, full of exciting and unexpected turns, to retrieve the animal.
If you don't believe us, the film holds a near-perfect 96% Rotten Tomatoes score, making it Cage's highest-rated live-action movie on the website.
Pig is airing on TV tonight on Film4 at 11.45pm. It's also available to rent on Apple TV and Rakuten TV.

The feature debut of director Michael Sarnoski (The Death of Robin Hood), the movie sees Cage give one of his very best performances. The actor is quieter and more solemn than usual as Rob. Yet, he still finds a way of conveying the incredible well of emotions lurking just beneath his character’s tough exterior.
