Obi-Wan Kenobi voted greatest-ever Star Wars character

Rudi Kinsella

Best Star Wars character

500,000 votes later, Obi-Wan has been crowned the best Star Wars character ever.

Ah, Star Wars. There really is nothing like it.

The Rise of Skywalker, which was released earlier this month, marks the end of an era for fans of the franchise, and luckily, absolutely everyone who went to see it loved it, and the entire saga was all wrapped up nicely.

Well, not so much.

As the expression goes, nobody hates Star Wars more than die-hard Star Wars fans and there is just no way that movie was going to satisfy everyone.

But what the Star Wars community has agreed on is the best character from the franchise, none other than Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Played tremendously by both Alec Guinness and Ewan McGregor, the character is both one of the greatest characters from the original trilogy and from the prequels.

In a series of Rotten Tomatoes polls that pitted dozens of Star Wars characters against each other, Kenobi defeated Darth Vader in the final, in what you’d have to say is quite a surprising outcome.

Not one that we necessarily disagree with, though.

Obi-Wan knocked out Yoda in the semi-final, although we reckon that if Baby Yoda had been included, this could have been a different ball game altogether.

Kenobi will be seen in new adventures soon, with Ewan McGregor finally reprising the role for a Disney+ series set to begin filming next summer.

It was arguably the worst-kept secret in all of Star Wars lore for a little while as McGregor was forced to continually lie to fans.

As you can see in the clip below, the man is very relieved.
