There is a brilliant night of TV ahead of us tonight

Get the kettle boiling and put the phone on silent…

Thursday is often a night for after work pints, or food with friends, but there’s plenty on the box tonight if you’re going to be at home a little later.

We’re a day away from The Late Late Show Valentine’s Special, and we’re sure that will be a memorable occasion for a number of reasons, if past evidence is anything to go by.

But while you’ll probably be glued to Ryan and his guests on Friday night, there’s two shows you should definitely be tuning into tonight.

The Young Offenders 9.30pm (RTÉ 2)

It’s finally here. Following the huge success of the film in the last 18 months, the TV series of the comedy is hitting RTÉ 2 at 9.30 tonight.

The six-part series was only released on February 1st on BBC Three and it has already proven to be a massive hit – it scored incredibly impressive ratings on BBC3. In fact, it’s so popular that a second season has already been given the go-ahead.

The public clearly can’t get enough of Conor and Jock, so we suggest you tune in to RTÉ 2 tonight or else you’ll certainly be forced to catch up on the player because everyone will be talking about it.

Derry Girls 10pm (Channel 4)

Channel 4’s latest comedy, Derry Girls, follows 16-year-old Erin Quinn (played by Saoirse Monica Jackson) as she comes of age during the later years of the Troubles.

Since it’s debut, the show has captured the hearts and minds of the audience and is hugely popular. Much like Young Offenders, it was promptly snatched up for a second series.

Tonight’s episode will be the last of the season, so in case you’re a little upset over all that, why not put your Derry Girls knowledge to the test with our very own quiz on the hit TV show.
