Bullet Train is “bananas” and is going to be the biggest action movie of 2022

Rory Cashin

We need to see this movie right now, please and thank you.

Okay. Deep breath…

Brad Pitt. Sandra Bullock. Michael Shannon. Zazie Beatz. Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Brian Tyree Henry. Logan Lerman. Bad Bunny. Joey King. Hiroyuki Sanada. From the director of John Wick, Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2, and Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw.

If all that didn’t get your attention, then here is Bullet Train‘s official plot synopsis:

“Five assassins aboard a fast moving bullet train find out their missions have something in common.”

There has been non-stop buzz around Bullet Train ever since it was first announced, with early word being so positive that it is difficult to keep a cap on our excitement for it!

The movie is currently in post-production with no set release date, but the smart money would be a Summer 2022 launch, where we expect it will become one of the biggest blockbusters of the year.

We recently chatted to Kelly McCormick, who produced many of the movies mentioned above, and was also behind Bob Odenkirk’s great new action-thriller Nobody.

You can check out our full chat with McCormick right here:

Given the opportunity to ask about her impressive CV, we wanted to know what it was about the down ‘n’ dirty action of these particular movies that appeals when making them.

McCormick told us:

“We’re always looking for really interesting characters, and that is where the action kind of comes in. The way in which it punctuates their arc as they go through this journey in the picture, that is critical to the success of the film in the action space, as well as just an experience.

“And for certain films, like Nobody, that has to feel super grounded and really gritty, and I think you have to feel like you’re really in it. So in this particular case, as well as [John Wick and Atomic Blonde], it can be really exciting for that, but in other movies, heightened action can be really fun, too.

And what about Bullet Train? Anything at all she could tell us about it?

“It is… bananas. Get ready. If there were seatbelts on bullet trains, you’d need one. That’s all I’m going to say!”

You can also check out our interviews with the stars of Nobody, Bob Odenkirk and Connie Nielsen, as well as director Ilya Naishuller right here.

Nobody arrives in Irish cinemas on Wednesday, 9 June.
