A 12-year-old child actor involved wasn’t allowed watch the final cut.

Nana Agyeman-Bediako who plays nine-year-old Issac, a British boy who was taken to Raqqa by his radicalised mother was not allowed watch the final cut of the drama he features in because it was too gruesome.

According to the Independent, the drama about the Islamic State called The State was too intense for the young boy to witness.

The State is directed by Bafta award winner, Peter Kosminsky and he said that everything possible was done to stop the young boy from seeing any of the violent scenes.

On his own, he was told to act as if he had seen something really horrible when in truth, his character was actually watching human heads being placed on spikes.

His mother has stopped him from watching the show.

The director believes that the film will be controversial but he said that there was a need to portray ISIS recruits in a way he deemed to be accurate.

The State, a co-production with National Geographic, is based on research of British Isis recruits and will be shown on Channel 4 from 20 August and the 1-minute trailer for the drama is below…
