Colin Farrell only too happy to share his thoughts on Saturday Night Live sketch

Folks in Hollywood need to get them some new jokes.

Jimmy Kimmel may have been busy prepping for the 2023 Academy Awards but Colin Farrell was only too happy to remind him of what he missed.

Farrell was at the Dolby Theatre with his co-stars, and the crew, from The Banshees of Inisherin for the Oscars ceremony. The movie took home no awards on a night that Everything Everywhere All At Once dominated.

Kimmel, the show’s host, brought Farrell to his feet, at one stage, when he led out ‘Jenny the Donkey’ from the Martin McDonagh movie on to the stage.

He did not get much of a titter, though, after leaning on the same joke that did not work for the Saturday Night Live crew, the previous evening.

The SNL team put together an Oscars skit that leaned on some Irish stereotypes, and Farrell had clearly seen the clip.

During a made-up ‘fan questions’ part of the Oscars ceremony, Jimmy Kimmel asked Colin Farrell – on behalf of a ‘fan’ – just what it was he was saying in Banshees.

Quick as a whip, Farrell had a response for the Oscars host:

“I’d like him to go on YouTube and check out the SNL skit from last night!”

The whole fan questions bit did not land, and it was not the only piece of planned comedy that flopped on a strangely sedate night. After the Will Smith slap of 2022, organisers were probably happier the whole affair went off without major incident.
