The Cured is a new zombie movie set in Ireland, with a very original twist, as it features people who have been cured of the zombie plague and attempting to be placed back into the general population, but they are still haunted by the memories of the atrocities they committed while they were zombies.
We here in JOE were lucky enough to sit down with the movie's writer/director David Freyne and the movie's leading star Sam Keeley, and had a nice long chat (you may have heard some snippets of this interview in this episode of The Big Reviewski) with them about everything to do with The Cured, which some outlets are referring to as the first proper gay zombie movie, which co-stars Ellen Page (Juno) and Tom Vaughn-Lawlor (Love/Hate).
However, we do also cover everything else from why Ireland has had a hard time doing horror well, and why that is about to change this year, and where in Ireland they would actually go to survive a zombie apocalypse should one arrive.
Plus a fantastic story of the movie's premiere in Toronto, which you really need to hear to believe.

If you haven't seen the movie yet, The Cured has been added to Netflix this weekend, and we fully recommend you check it out, because it is nice to finally see Ireland on the receiving end of a massive apocalypse for once.
