People are saying it’s up there with Game of Thrones.
With the release of Netflix’s new massive sci-fi series 3 Body Problem, several people have taken to social media to rave about an earlier similarly-ambitious sci-fi show released by the streaming service.
That series is Dark, which ran for three seasons and 26 episodes between 2017 and 2020.
The plot synopsis for the show reads: “When children start vanishing from the German town of Winden, it brings to light the fractured relationships, double lives, and the dark pasts of four families living there – unfurling a mystery that spans four generations.”
Scoring an average critics score of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes across its three seasons, Dark earned near-universal acclaim for its imaginative intricate twisty story, its blend of human drama and sci-fi elements and its dark gloomy atmosphere.

Decider: “Dark feels like a version of Lost folded in on itself, in which the action on the magical, spacetime-traveling Island and the secret-revealing, surprise-laden, character-driven backstory flashbacks all occur simultaneously.”
The Daily Beast: “Netflix’s smart new supernatural thriller is mired in philosophical conundrums and enough 1980s nostalgia to keep ‘Stranger Things’ fanatics hitting next episode.”
The Sun (UK): “Yes, it’s tough to keep track of who, what and when but this is a seriously exciting series with twists and reveals to send you into a whirl.”
Tampa Bay Times: “Dark is one of those shows that stays with you long after you’ve finished watching.”
That last review rings particularly true, given the German show’s devoted fan base that are still taking any opportunity to recommend the show to others today.
