Dave Bautista has a strange clause in all of his movie contracts

He doesn’t like to go too long between meals.

Dave Bautista has revealed an unusual clause he insists on in all his movie contracts to ensure he never gets hungry.

The WWE star turned actor, who recently impressed movie fans with his role as Duke Cody in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, spoke to Men’s Health about the workout routine and diet that keeps him ripped.

Bautista, best known as Drax the Destroyer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, told the publication that his contracts state he must be allowed to “eat no less than every four hours”.

And when he’s not on his contracted food breaks, the athlete-turned-actor tops himself up with his favourite snacks.

“In between those meals if I get hungry, I typically do an almond butter and banana, or a vegan, gluten-free grilled cheese is my favourite go-to,” he explained.

The actor follows a mainly plant-based diet but eats fish a few times a week. One day he hopes to go vegan.

As well as eating healthy, if it wasn’t obvious from his physique, Bautista spends a bit of time in the gym.

He told Men’s Health he works out every day – sometimes twice – doing weights, cardio and mixed martial arts training.

“This is my sanctuary. I come here for peace of mind. It’s therapeutic for me,” he said.

Bautista’s impressive physique helped land him his breakout role as Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014.

After almost a decade in the role, Bautista is exiting the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Drax bows out in Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol 3.

Speaking to GQ earlier this month, Bautista didn’t seem that bothered, saying: “I’m so grateful for Drax. I love him. But there’s a relief [that it’s over]. It wasn’t all pleasant. It was hard playing that role. The makeup process was beating me down.

“And I just don’t know if I want Drax to be my legacy – it’s a silly performance, and I want to do more dramatic stuff.”

Despite telling the publication he didn’t “give a f***” about being a movie star, Bautista admitted he would like to become a “better actor”.
