The documentary king is back. Set record.
While the majority of world leaders seem happy to be shouting at each other, there’s a serene calm to be found in the knowledge that David Attenborough will be returning to our screens with a new nature series.
To make things even better, his new show, Seven Worlds, One Planet, looks like an absolute cracker too. Then again, when has he ever been involved with a nature documenary that wasn’t sensational?
The BBC have now confirmed that the landmark natural history series will be shown on Sunday, 27 October on BBC1.
This marks the first time that all the continents have been conquered in a single series, and episodes will be available following broadcast in Ultra High Definition. For viewers in the UK, they’ll also be immediately available to watch via the BBC iPlayer.
In terms of the show’s official synopsis, were told that “millions of years ago, incredible forces ripped apart the Earth’s crust creating seven extraordinary continents. Seven Worlds, One Planet, presented by Sir David Attenborough, will reveal how each distinct continent has shaped the unique animal life found there.
“This series will feature remarkable, new animal behaviour from all the continents including the baking plains of Africa and the frozen waters off Antarctica. In Asia, the biggest of all continents, we will showcase life at the extremes, whilst in Europe we will reveal surprising wildlife dramas hidden right alongside us.”
The series celebrates the diversity of life on each of these continents, but also the many challenges faced by animals in a modern world dominated by humanity.
