Derry Girls

Wise up because the girls are all here.

It’s impossible to keep a good thing down and in the case of Derry Girls, every single person knows that they’re definitely onto a good thing with Lisa McGee’s hit show.

Such is the immediate impact that Michelle, Clare, Erin, Orla, and the wee English fella, made on the pop-culture zeitgeist, it fells like the show premiered a long time ago. However, that very first scene of Orla reading from her cousin’s diary only took place on 4 January, 2018.

Mad, isn’t it?

As they say, what happened next is history because very few shows have been as quickly embraced and loved.

We’ve seen miraculous visions of ‘Big M’ smirking, Michelle’s best efforts at burning down a chipper thanks to some sambuca, the Quinn family’s exasperated attempts to leave Derry on the weekend of the 12th, Clare coming out to her best friends, that stunning finale, and countless gags.

This being said, the Derry girls are about to go on their biggest adventure because as stated previously, the show is now available for Netflix viewers around the globe to enjoy.

We wonder if Sister Michael would like the idea of Derry Girls being shown in France because after all, she does despise the French?

Anyway, while this is undoubtedly good news for your mates living in Canada, the US, etc., plenty of Irish people have wondered why the beloved comedy isn’t available on the Irish version of Netflix?

Well, that has something to do with distribution rights but fear not because every single episode is currently available for free.

Have yourself a Derry Christmas.

We’ll drink to that.
