Derry Girls star Saoirse-Monica Jackson has been cast in the upcoming DC movie The Flash, set for a release in late 2022.

The film will star Ezra Miller, who has played the title character in Suicide Squad, Batman vs Superman and both cuts of Justice League already.

According to Variety, Jackson is now set to appear in the film too, which will also feature both Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton returning to the role of Batman.

Ron Livingston will play The Flash’s father, meanwhile, replacing actor Billy Crudup who played the part in Justice League.

While plot details are being kept underwraps, the presence of two versions of the Dark Knight suggests some parallel dimension crossing adventures.

Directed by Andy Muschietti, who helmed the recent adaptations of Stephen King’s It, The Flash is scheduled for release in Ireland on 4 November, 2022

Saoirse-Monica Jackson is best known for playing Erin, the lead character in the acclaimed sitcom Derry Girls.

Having ran for two seasons, the shooting of its third has been delayed on account of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Derry Girls cast have said they hope the series can resume filming later in the year.
