Movie fans (and Ryan Reynolds) react to the rumours of Disney buying out Fox

Could we be seeing the X-Men join forces with the Avengers??

We could soon see the Avengers and the X-Men sharing the big screen.

Keep in mind that this is all in the very early stages, however, it was reported in the late hours of Monday night that 21st Century Fox were holding talks with Disney, with the goal being to sell most of the company to them.

According to sources at CNBC, Fox are aiming to focus their properties to just news and sports, which would free up all of their movie and TV properties for Disney to take over.

These would include Alien, Predator, Die Hard, Avatar, The X-Files, The Simpsons, Family Guy and Planet Of The Apes amongst others, but the properties that has everyone talking are The X-Men, Fantastic Four and Deadpool.

It is something that didn’t pass by Deadpool himself…

The primary concern here would be that Disney aren’t particularly well-versed in making adult-skewed entertainment, as their take on the MCU has been pretty family-friendly so far, never going above a 12A cert.

On the other hand, the likes of Deadpool and Logan both received 16 certs in Ireland, due to strong violence, language and, in the case of Deadpool, sex and/or nudity. Would Disney taking over automatically mean a watered down version of these characters?

However, there is the argument to be made – both for and against – that this purchase could see The Avengers, the Guardians Of The Galaxy, the Fantastic Four, and The X-Men (including Deadpool) all on screen together. The geek-out level could change the Earth’s axis, but is it overkill?

Let us know what you think.
