WATCH: Dr. Phil rocking out with Good Charlotte in a unique form of punishment

Rory Cashin

“That wasn’t Good Charlotte. That was Bad Charlotte.”

There is a small rule of comedy that we want to make you privy to: Just because you know the joke is bad, that doesn’t let you off the hook for telling it in the first place.

You’ve still stank out the room with your terrible joke, and if anything, you’ve even more guilt to bare because you already KNEW it was a bad joke, and you still told it anyways.

To that end, you present you with this ‘sketch’ from one of this week’s episodes of The Late Late Show With James Corden, in which the host pretends to be some kind of shamanistic career guidance counselor who thinks he knows what the next step for Good Charlotte needs to be in their career.

And that step is for… Dr. Phil to be a new band member?

To be fair to Dr. Phil, who was the 15th highest earning celebrity in the world last year, really goes for it, with tatted arms and studded leather jacket and Alice Copper eye make-up. He can’t sing worth a damn, but that hardly matters.

What does matter is that Corden seems to think that any of this is funny, or even so-bad-bad-it’s-funny, which simply isn’t the case.

So… enjoy?

Oh, and in case you think we’re being too harsh, we are NOT alone…
