Eastbound & Down releases brilliant supercut of Kenny Powers’ best lines to celebrate 10th anniversary

Paul Moore

Eastbound & Down

The superb comedy marked its tenth anniversary in style.

There are so many things that we could say about the utterly brilliant Eastbound & Down, but we’re going to let Danny McBride’s beloved character, Kenny Powers, take it away.

“‘I’ve been blessed with many things in this life: an arm like a damn rocket, a cock like a Burmese python, and the mind of a fucking scientist.”

Well put.

Hell, over the course of four insane seasons, Kenny Powers did his very best to show us that all of this was true but ultimately, who cared? The show is a bloody riot because it’s filthy, original, and it really doesn’t give a crap about offending anyone.

To paraphrase the words of Ashley Schaeffer: “I can feel its legacy all the way down my plums. They’re getting all swollen” and since the show ended in 2013, its cult status has only grown.

If you’ve never seen it, the pilot is probably the best first episode of any comedy show you’ll ever see.

Over the course of four seasons, we’re treated to stories about drugs, jet skis, redemption in Mexico, a man riding a donkey onto a baseball field, cockfighting, stalkers/friends, sex, family curses, Civil War-era canons, people faking their own death, the greatest motivational speeches of all time, and much more.

If that isn’t enough to convince you, there is nobody like the main man himself, Kenny Powers.

After all, in his own words, “one time I was invited to come to a social gathering. I was paid a handsome amount of money. I brought a shotgun and a bottle of Tanqueray and showed those people the best fucking time they’ve ever seen”.

As hard as it is to believe, Eastbound & Down first aired 10 years ago this week and the official page has marked this anniversary in the best way possible.

Long live the King.
