Evil teacher threatens to punish misbehaving students with Game of Thrones spoilers

With that sort of ruthless approach, this guy would fit right in in Westeros.

To the joy of the many fans of the HBO series worldwide, Season Four of Game of Thrones returns to our screens next month and many will regard it as an accomplishment if they can get through the entire season without a single spoiler to ruin their enjoyment of the whole thing.

Students at one school in Belgium will have to be careful if they want to avoid that fate, however, as a particularly cruel maths teacher has threatened to punish them by giving away details of the plot if they don’t behave. We say cruel, but we can imagine fellow members of his profession worldwide thinking that the man is an evil genius.

According to Belgian paper Het Nieuwsblad, the teacher in question didn’t take too kindly to being constantly interrupted by students in his class and used his knowledge of the Game of Thrones books to come up with the worst punishment imaginable for those not fully up to date on events in the TV adaptation of George R R Martin’s work.

The teacher asked his students how many of them watched Game of Thrones and after nearly all of them raised their hand, he is reported to have said: “Well, I’ve read all the books. If there is another noise, I will write the name of the dead on the board. There are enough names to fill the whole year and I can even describe how they die.”

When that threat didn’t have the desired effect on the classroom, the teacher then reportedly starting writing names on the blackboard of the characters who perished in the third season and although we don’t want to get all spoily-spoily ourselves, those who have seen it will know that the death toll comes to a figure that would struggle to be matched by Die Hard and The Terminator films combined.

The next step for the students, of course, is to find out what TV show the teacher is watching and turn the tables on him – Breaking Bad, for example, has more than enough plot twists to provide plenty of ammunition for spoilsports – but somehow, we reckon this guy will always be one step ahead.
