Exciting news as Irish superhero film is officially picked up by cult film distribution company Troma

Eoghan Doherty

The hero this country needs, but not the one it deserves…

Big congratulations to Irish filmmaker Séamus Hanly, who’s comedy feature film, The Middle Finger, has been officially acquired by the iconic cult film company, Troma.

Troma is the longest running truly independent film company in American history and the studio where stars such as Samuel L Jackson, Billy Bob Thornton and South Park’s Matt Parker and Trey Stone got their big breaks in amazingly-titled films like Chopper Chicks In Zombietown, Def By Temptation and Cannibal! The Musical.

The Middle Finger tells the story of Dennis (Hanly), a lonely and frustrated teenager who is reluctantly transformed into a superhero… with the symbol of a giant hand showing its middle finger.

Like any good origin story, it’s then up to Dennis to awkwardly endure his training and save his world from almost-certain extinction.

It’s incredibly exciting news for the young Irishman, but we’re still not sure whether Séamus always wanted to become a famous film star or merely had a penchant for wearing his underpants on the outside of his trousers.

Both important life goals.

You can now watch the full film online by clicking right here and it’ll be released on other mainstream digital formats later this year.

In the meantime though, up yours and check out the trailer…
