Video: Fassbender and Pitt star in the intense new trailer for 12 Years A Slave

If Lincoln and Django Unchained made sweet love and had a little baby film then this would be it.

Eoghan Doherty

Looking like the love child of Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln and Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained, 12 Years A Slave is the third feature film from the incredibly talented English director Steve McQueen.

It is due to be released in October 2013 and tells the true tale of Solomon Northup (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a free black man who was kidnapped and sold into slavery in 1841.

Adapting the 1853 autobiography of the same name, McQueen has once more teamed up with his Hunger and Shame muse Michael Fassbender, who plays Edwin Epps, a cruel plantation owner.

The winning pair are joined this time round by an incredibly stellar cast, and one that inevitably has Oscar written all over it, so get your award season bets in now people.

Brad Pitt, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Giamatti, Paul Dano, Quvenzhané Wallis and our very own Ruth Negga are just some of the names who, by the looks of the intense trailer, will be putting in some pretty hard-hitting performances.

Still sign of Django and the good Dr. Schultz anywhere though, they would’ve shown those plantation pricks who’s boss in no time…
