Fast & Furious 9 set to be released in Irish cinemas earlier than expected

Rory Cashin

The movie was originally scheduled to be released in July.

Considering we’ve got an entire podcast series currently running that is focused on the history of the Fast & Furious Saga, it should come as no surprise to you that we’re very excited to hear that Fast & Furious 9 is due to arrive in cinemas earlier than previously expected.

Previously, the movie was due to arrive in cinemas in the UK and Ireland (providing they’re open here!) on Thursday, 8 July. However, today it has been announced that it will actually be available two weeks earlier, on Thursday, 24 June.

So while that date definitely will apply to Great Britain (where cinemas are already open) and Northern Ireland (where cinemas will open on Monday, 24 May), all eyes will be on the rest of Ireland, and when the government decides to allow them to reopen. Fingers crossed it is on or before 24 June.

Additionally, Universal also announced an updated release schedule for some of their biggest releases for 2021, with just a handful of the highlights including Nobody (9 June), Voyagers (2 July), The Forever Purge (16 July), Old (6 August), Candyman (27 August), Respect (10 August), No Time To Die (30 September), Halloween Kills (15 October), Belfast (12 November), House Of Gucci (26 November), and the Downtown Abbey sequel (24 December).
