Father Ted

Down with this sort of thing etc. etc.

It might be a bit of a stretch to say that themed stag parties are a common occurrence in Ireland, but you’d come across them on an occasional basis and in Ireland, Father Ted is one of the most popular themes going.

The problem with themed stags is that it’s easy to identify who is part of the group and when certain pubs in certain towns aren’t keen on admitting large numbers into their establishments, it can cause difficulty if the gang wants to stay together.

That’s exactly what happened on the stag of Gavin McKenna in Kilkenny at the weekend, with Gavin and his friends encountering opposition from the bouncers of one bar when they tried to get through the door.

Rather than attempting to confront the bouncers, however, they decided to stage a peaceful protest in a manner that will ring a bell with anyone who’s ever seen one of the greatest comedies ever made.

We can only hope it didn’t descend into a type of nudie stag the longer the night went on.

Cheers to Garry and Louise Marsella for sending this our way. Got a story for JOE? Hit us up on Facebook or Twitter, send it to our WhatsApp number 087-4001102 or mail [email protected].
