All three feature big stars in the lead roles and are based on true stories.

Three of 2023’s most talked about movies – Ferrari, Napoleon and Reality – have just been made available to stream at home in Ireland and the UK.

Each of the films is based on a true story and features a massive star in the lead role.

Ferrari is directed by Michael Mann (Heat, Miami Vice) and follows the personal and professional struggles of Enzo Ferrari (Adam Driver), the founder of the Italian car manufacturer.

This is during the summer of 1957 as his sports team Scuderia Ferrari prepares to compete in the Mille Miglia race.

Alongside Driver – Penelope Cruz, Shailene Woodley, Patrick Dempsey, Jack O’Connell and Sarah Gadon are part of the cast.

Napoleon, meanwhile, stars Joaquin Phoenix as the French emperor Napoleon Bonaparte.

Helmed by Ridley Scott (Gladiator), the historical epic details his rise to power as well as his relationship with his wife Joséphine (Vanessa Kirby).

A more unconventional take on real life events is the indie film Reality, starring Sydney Sweeney (Euphoria, Anyone But You).

She plays former American intelligence specialist and whistleblower Reality Winner, with the film based on a transcript of her interrogation by the FBI.

The plot synopsis for the movie reads: “On a Saturday afternoon, in June 2017, Reality Winner, a 25-year-old in cut-off jeans, is confronted at her Georgia home by the FBI.

“A cryptic conversation begins and Reality’s life quickly begins to unravel.”

All three movies received solid reviews from critics, particularly Reality – which earned an incredible 94% Rotten Tomatoes score.

Ferrari is available to watch on NOW Cinema and Sky Cinema, Napoleon can be viewed on Apple TV+ and Reality is streaming on Prime Video.
