The Sons of Anarchy spin-off arrives this year!

A few months ago, we brought you the official confirmation that a Sons of Anarchy spin-off is happening and the first image and plot details about Mayans MC have just been revealed.

The show will take up where Sons of Anarchy left-off, and will focus on SAMCRO’s rival motorcycle group and follow a young club prospect named EZ Reyes, played by JD Pardo (below)

D Pardo plays EZ Reyes, a Mayans MC recruit who is torn between the woman he loves and his loyalty to the gang.

Regarding the show, FX president John Landgraf told TV Guide: “I’m really excited about where we are in the process of Mayans. I’m very confident about the future of that spin-off.”

Kurt Sutter, creator of Sons of Anarchy, says that the show will be set “far enough away from Northern California that it wouldn’t step on the mythology that’s already been told.”

“It doesn’t mean that there couldn’t be some cool, ironic crossovers with familiar characters as the series progressed. [But] I wouldn’t want to set it too close to the world we already know, and step on that,” Sutter added.

FX has released the very first image for the 10-episode first season of Mayans MC and here it is.

Speaking at the TCA press tour, FX president Nick Grad said”[Writer] Kurt Sutter is a master storyteller and Mayans MC has the raw energy and intensity that are hallmarks of his signature style. Thanks to Kurt, co-creator Elgin James, and this amazing cast, Mayans MC builds on the legacy of Sons of Anarchy, taking it in a thrilling new direction that we can’t wait for the world to see.”

Edward James Olmos, Sarah Bolger, Clayton Cardenas, Richard Cabral, Michael Irby, Raoul Trujillo, Antonio Jaramillo and Carla Baratta also star in the spinoff.

Mayans MC is set to premiere on FX in late summer/early fall 2018.

As well as Mayans MC, there has long been chatter about a prequel to Sons of Anarchy that revolves around Jax’s dad, John Teller.
