The movie is currently set to arrive in cinemas in July 2022.

It looks like Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s domination over Hollywood is set to continue.

After appearing in a Star Wars movie (admittedly, it was Solo: A Star Wars Story, so not a very good one), and helping to write the script for upcoming Bond movie No Time To Die, as well as starring in a TV series remake of Mr. & Mrs. Smith with Donald Glover, it is now reported that she has landed the lead female role in the fifth Indiana Jones movie.

Deadline has announced that Disney, Lucasfilm and Indiana Jones 5 director James Mangold (Logan, Ford V Ferrari) have chosen Waller-Bridge for the still-top-secret role.

Plot details are pretty light on the ground and Harrison Ford is the only other confirmed acting talent so far.

David Koepp (Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds) and Jonathan Kasdan (Solo: A Star Wars Story) are on script duties, with Spielberg stepping back from directing this one (he directed the first four) but reportedly still staying very much involved in the production, while the legendary John Williams will return to score this outing.

Waller-Bridge made an epic splash into the public consciousness thanks to the one-two acting/writing punch of Fleabag and Killing Eve, and Indy 5 will mark her first major leading role in a Hollywood movie production (she was entirely CGI in Solo).

Indiana Jones 5 is set to begin film this summer, with a current cinematic release date of 29 July, 2022.
