The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is set to be rebooted but fans are not happy about the reported changes

“Now this is the story all about how my life got flipped, turned upside down”

We live in an age where no TV or film property is sacred and that’s fine. Granted, we’d love to see original ideas and features coming to the fore but complaining about remakes/reboots is like getting mad at the sky for being blue.

Hollywood will always find a way to make money and on that note, a reboot of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air makes financial sense. It’s one of the most popular shows in TV history, it has the nostalgia factor and as its recent addition to Netflix showed, it can still draw modern audiences.

This being said, the rumoured reboot of the show is changing things up because it will revolve around the Fresh Princess of Bel-Air, not Prince.

TMZ have reported that The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air might be getting dethroned because the company that owns the rights to the show has filed a few trademark applications that are seeking to lock down the rights to “Fresh Princess” for a television program and virtually every other media platform.

They’re also looking to trademark the “Fresh Princess” on a bunch of merchandise- including bags, backpacks, clothing and footwear.

As of yet, there’s nothing official about the potential Fresh Princess TV reboot. Will Smith’s involvement with any female-focused reboot is also unknown.

Granted, nobody even knows if this show is going to happen and if it does, it could be the greatest TV show in the history of the world.

This being said, fans aren’t sure that this is the right approach for any potential reboot of the beloved Fresh Prince/Princess brand.
