Our favourite Game of Thrones star wants a role in the What We Do in the Shadows spin-off

Paul Moore

This would be amazing. Remember, they’re not swearwolves!

Given the fact that Thor: Raganrok is currently one of the best-reviewed films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it appears that its gifted director, Taika Waititi has his choice of material.

When we caught up with the incredibly talented New Zealander, he did state that he’d love to make a Star Wars film but that it’s entirely up to the people at Disney and Lucasfilm.

“I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t interested in Star Wars. The thing about it though is that it feels like by the time I’d be offered anything in the Star Wars universe it would be like Episode 42 or something like that and it would feel, just, yeah, not very special to me,” he said.

Indie film fans have known about Waititi ‘s skill as a writer, actor, and director a long time because his previous films like Eagle vs Shark, Boy and the majestical Hunt for the Wilderpeople are all fantastic.

This being said, people have a special place in their dead hearts for his superb horror-comedy, What We Do in the Shadows.

As stated previously, we’re massive fans of the hilarious vampire documentary and Viago himself has confirmed that he plans on writing the spin-off, We’re Wolves, with Jemaine Clement in the next few weeks.

Speaking with JOE, he said:  “I think we’ve written three pages over the last two years! The first one (What We Do in the Shadows) took us about six years to do. This one, we’re hoping to get done a lot quicker. Actually, after this (Thor press junket) we’re hoping to get together and carve out some time to finish the script.” Waititi also provided a few more details about We’re Wolves in another interview with Yahoo Movies.

“You’re not going to see it for seven years. We’re notoriously terrible at writing together, Jemaine and I. It usually takes place over e-mails, so we’ll e-mail each other one line of dialogue, once a month… What We Do in the Shadows took six years to write,” he jokingly said.

Of course, as fans of the original will know, the spin-off will revolve around the pack of werewolves that we briefly saw in Shadows, led by Anton (Rhys Darby).

Who wouldn’t love to see those guys howling at the moon, smelling each other’s crotches, and being really polite? Remember, they’re werewolves, not swearwolves!

Well, following this joyous news that the gang are getting back together, it appears the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms fancies a role in the spin-off.

Yes, that’s right. Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister) has asked Taika Waititi for a part as a “semi-elderly British vampire” in the spin-off and she’s not the only famous person to do so.

Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz director Edgar Wright has also expressed an interest at howling at the moon in Wellington.

This needs to happen!

If Headey gets the role, we really hope that she’s welcomed on set like this.
