Get ready for the bizarrely hypnotic new show hitting Netflix this weekend

Perfect hangover viewing

JOE

Netflix is about to get a binge watch to remember this weekend.

Cult Norwegian television programme Slow TV is making its way to the streaming service from 5th August, promising some of the most calming television you’ve seen in years.

First broadcasting in 2009, Slow TV showed a 7.5 hour long train ride from Bergen to Oslo and… that’s about it. That was the entire show. It was just a video of a long train ride.

Yet despite the lack of violence or drama, the broadcast was watched by close to 2 million people in Norway – roughly 45 percent of Norway’s population.

What made two million people watch a train journey? Somehow Slow TV manages to tap into the part of the brain that makes slow repetitive action wonderfully hypnotic and alluring.

Watching Slow TV is akin to listening to a guided mediation tape. After a few moments you feel lighter, anxiety levels lowering while watching gripping episodes such as National Knitting Morning or Salmon Fishing

The full list of Slow TV shows hitting Netflix can be found below. We advise you stick it on for an hour when you’re hungover on a Sunday, you’ll be surprised how it can help with a throbbing headache.
