Gina Carano has reportedly been fired from The Mandalorian

The news comes after #FireGinaCarano began trending on Twitter on Wednesday.

Gina Carano has been fired from The Mandalorian, in what is reported to be a response to a series of offensive social media posts.

In a statement reported by Variety, a spokesperson for LucasFilm said the following:

“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”

On Tuesday this week, Carano posted to her social media platforms an image, accompanied by text which made comparisons between a Jewish person in Germany during the holocaust and being a Republican in America today.

Some of the posts were deleted, but others are still available to view at the time of writing, which led to the hashtag #FireGinaCarano trending on Twitter on Wednesday night.

Carano appeared in seven episodes across the first two seasons of The Mandalorian, and in December 2020, Disney announced that a spin-off show titled Rangers of the New Republic was in the works, with many assuming that Carano – as a ranger in The Mandalorian – would lead that show.

Additionally, Variety report that talent agency UTA have dropped her as a client.
