Best known as Esther Roche in Fair City and Mynah in Glenroe, Eileen Colgan has passed away.
A very familiar face to all Irish TV viewers, actress Eileen Colgan's death has brought in tributes from many of her former colleagues of stage and screen.
Colgan appeared in movies such as Angela’s Ashes, My Left Foot and Far and Away but it was her TV roles that made her a household name around Ireland.
Firstly as housekeeper Mynah in Glenroe and then as Esther Roche in Fair City, Colgan became known to millions of soap fans.
On the RTE website, the Head of RTÉ Drama Jane Gogan said: “Eileen was a great professional and will be sadly missed by those of us who were fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to know her and work with her.
“In the highly demanding world of Fair City Eileen was an inspiration to those she worked with. She will be greatly missed by cast and crew.”
