#TRAILERCHEST: The final Godzilla: King of the Monsters trailer reminds us that, yep, this thing is coming out this year

Godzilla 2019 trailer

Godzilla doesn’t get enough love.

Welcome to #TRAILERCHEST, where we’re taking a look at the final trailer for Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

Godzilla movies, at least Western mainstream ones, haven’t fared too well in this writer’s lifetime.

You had the Matthew Broderick-fronted 1998 version, where the best thing to emerge was Puff Daddy’s ‘Come With Me’, which remains a banger – do not @ me, Led Zep hardcores.

Then you had the 2014 edition, which saw Gareth Edwards do a great job with scale, but the story was lacking.

Some people even chose to fat-shame poor Godzilla based on the legendary monster’s Rubenesque depiction in that adventure. Not cool, lads.

Anyway, we’re back again with another crack at this thing in the form of Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

We’ve had a handful of trailers so far, though there exists the feeling that it might get lost in the shuffle with the likes of the Avengers and John Wick running around in search of your summer blockbuster coin.

The latest look brings all of the monsters/titans into play – there are a great many of them – including the very big bad, pictured above looking like something out of a Thomas Harris novel by way of Fallout: New Vegas.

Based on everything we’ve seen so far, this could honestly be fantastic.

Or it could be totally forgettable and generic. We’ll see.
