It is getting compared to the likes of 30 Rock and Parks & Rec.
It feels like it has been a long time since we've had a really great comedy that everyone could get behind. Y'know, there was the Seinfeld / Friends / Frasier era, and then there was the The Office USA / 30 Rock / Parks & Rec era, but right now, what have we got?
Sure, there's some outliers like Rick & Morty or It's Always Sunny, but they almost feel too dark to be for everyone.
So we're very happy to say that The Good Place has arrived on Netflix, with all of the first season available for your binging pleasure ASAP, and then we'll be getting new episodes from Season 2 weekly, kicking off from Friday 29 September.
It tells the story of Eleanor Shellstrop (Kristen Bell), who has died and entered the after-life, only to discover that they have mistaken her for someone else and she seeks to rectify this with the help of her afterlife mentor, Michael (Ted Danson).
This clip really sets up the whole scenario quite nicely...

Season One has come and gone and everyone loved it (people are STILL talking about how the last episode ended) so now is the perfect time to catch up on it before Season Two kicks off.
Here are just some of the fantastic reviews that show has received so far.
"The brilliance of the writing and world-building on The Good Place is taken to another level by its cast." - New York Magazine
"Just as “Parks and Rec” was built around a strong female character (Amy Poehler), so is The Good Place and Bell brings her daffy range of sensibilities to the show. She somehow manages to run through sassy, clueless, innocent, rude, earnest, spunky, well-intentioned and selfish modes in every episode." - The Detroit News
"The show’s premise has so much potential for musing and puzzling that it’s a relief it remembers to be funny, too." - The A.V. Club
"There’s no question that [they] are taking a chance with this tangy fantasy froth, but the necessary elements for a successful comedy are there, including the chemistry between Danson and Bell." - San Francisco Chronicle
"Nothing is perfect, but the wise whimsy of The Good Place comes close." - Entertainment Weekly
