There is a US remake also in the works but we’re so happy to see Idris Elba don the coat once again…

JOE is well accustomed to the usual TV conversations that you would have with your mates down the pub.

We’re also constantly told that ‘insert name of random TV show’ is the greatest piece of television since The Wire or Father Ted but quite frankly, there isn’t enough hours in the day to watch everything.

We can safely say though that Luther, which the brilliant Idris Elba won a Golden Globe for, is a must watch for fans of detective dramas, occult mysteries, serial killers, cat and mouse chases and some bloody brilliant characters.

A US remake was announced yesterday which depressed us slightly because nothing can beat the BBC original, so that’s why we’re delighted to learn that a two part mini-series has just been commissioned.

DCI John Luther and his brilliant yet dangerous mind will be returning once again as announced by the show’s creator Neil Cross.

In a statement on the BBC, Cross said: “Ever since we said goodbye to John Luther on Southwark Bridge, there’s hardly been a minute when I didn’t wonder what happened next. So I decided to find out. We’re putting the band back together; Luther is coming back where he belongs. Back to the BBC. Back to London. And back to work.”

The two hour-long episodes will film in and around London in March, and the show is slated for a late 2015 premiere.

Here’s hoping that they bring back Alice also. We can’t wait.
