Not long left to wait for it (wait for it, wait for it).

Lin-Manuel Miranda has confirmed that the release of the big-screen version of Hamilton has been brought forward by over a year.

A movie version of the original Broadway production will now be released on Disney+ on 3 July.

The decision was made “in light of the world turning upside down”, Miranda said, playing off a lyric from the musical.

It will feature the original Broadway cast, aiming to bring together the best elements of live theatre, film and streaming.

Many have been unable to see the musical thus far, as tickets can be difficult to acquire, and it is yet to come to Ireland in any way.

Miranda said: “I’m so proud of how beautifully Tommy Kail has brought Hamilton to the screen. He’s given everyone who watches this film the best seat in the house.

“I’m so grateful to Disney and Disney+ for reimagining and moving up our release to July 4 weekend of this year, in light of the world turning upside down.

“I’m so grateful to all the fans who asked for this, and I’m so glad that we’re able to make it happen. I’m so proud of this show. I can’t wait for you to see it.”

When it comes to accolades, Hamilton really couldn’t have been any more successful.

It notched up 11 Tony Awards, a Grammy, an Olivier Award and even a Pulitzer Prize.

Hamilton tells the story of the incredible life of Alexander Hamilton, a founding father of the United States, as well as the birth of America as a nation.
