The replacements for the new Han Solo movie have already been lined up.

Over the years, we’ve seen Han Solo evade the Empire, Jabba the Hutt and Kanjiklub, but the directors of the upcoming Han Solo film, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, have been unable to evade a Hollywood cliché, the infamous difference of ‘creative visions’.

The directors of The Lego Movie and 22 Jump Street will be leaving the upcoming Han Solo spin-off after president of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy said: “Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are talented filmmakers who have assembled an incredible cast and crew, but it’s become clear that we had different creative visions on this film, and we’ve decided to part ways.”

Ron Howard (Apollo 13, Rush) and Joe Johnston (Captain America: The First Avenger, Jumanji) are being considered as replacements.

“Unfortunately, our vision and process weren’t aligned with our partners on this project. We normally aren’t fans of the phrase ‘creative differences’ but for once this cliché is true,” Lord and Miller said in a statement. “We are really proud of the amazing and world-class work of our cast and crew.”

The film, which stars Alden Ehrenreich as a young version of the scruffy looking nerf herder, tells the origin story of the character who was made famous by Harrison Ford in the Star Wars saga. Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke and Woody Harrelson are co-starring.

The film is still in production and will be released in May 2018.
