#TRAILERCHEST: The latest look at Hellboy goes all in on the ‘adults only’ vibe

Hellboy trailer

Well, it’s better than the first trailer, at least.

Welcome to #TRAILERCHEST, where we’re taking a sneak peak at the new trailer for Hellboy.

Plot’s it all about? Despite not quite making the kind of bank that Batman would consider a good haul, you should be familiar enough with Hellboy by now.

Guillermo del Toro and Ron Perlman turned in two good-to-great movies back in 2004 and 2008, and though the pair were desperate to conclude their story, it all fell apart.

Step forward Neil Marshall, who is leading the charge for the Hellboy reboot, which promises a much more adult-friendly take on the character.

The first trailer went big on comedy and looked a bit ropey, to be honest.

David Harbour of Stranger Things fame certainly looks and feels like an inspired choice to fill Perlman’s big red shoes, but something in general just seemed off.

Happily, the new trailer improves on things a bit, and they’re really not holding back on profanity and gore, either.

As for that whole ‘plot’ business, it would appear that once again evil forces – most notably Milla Jovoich’s ancient witch-queen – are doing their best to see Big Red fulfil his destiny of ending the world.

Only he’s having none of it.

Starring: David Harbour, Milla Jovovich, Ian McShane, Daniel Dae Kim.

Directed by: Neil Marshall

Irish release date:  12 April
