Settle in because there are some cracking films on the TV today.

In terms of films, 2019 has been a pretty solid year with some fantastic titles being released in Irish cinemas – you can look at our favourites here.

However, much like the majority of the last seven days, today is all about being lazy and on that note, the TV gods have provided us with a few cracking titles to watch as we wave goodbye to 2019.

Here’s the best of what’s on.

Short Circuit 2 – 11:45 on RTÉ2

“How do I feel? I feel… ALIVE!”

The Queen – 12:45 on UTV/ITV

Before the world fell in love with The Crown, Peter Morgan was doing his unique take on the Royal Family in this solid examination of Queen Elizabeth II as she struggles with her reaction to a sequence of events that followed after the death of Princess Diana.

Teen Wolf – 12:50 on Film4

How exactly does becoming a werewolf make you better at basketball? Anyway, don’t ask questions and just enjoy Michael J. Fox being cool as hell.

Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner – 1:20pm on TG4

A classic starring the superb Sidney Poitier.

A couple’s attitudes are challenged when their daughter introduces them to her African-American fiancé. Well ahead of its time and still stands up.

Ever After: A Cinderella Story – 1:20pm on Channel 4

One of the most underrated and cleverest films in the fairytale genre. If you’ve never seen it, check it out. Your kids might love it too.

Paddington 2 – 1:30pm on BBC1

Hugh Grant’s greatest ever performance. Seriously, he’s superb in every scene of this cracking film.

Shrek the Third: 3:10pm on BBC1

The third one.

Back to the Future Part II – 3:50pm on RTÉ1

Still waiting on those hoverboards.

Live and Let Die – 16:10pm on RTÉ2

The song might be more memorable than the film, but there’s lots to enjoy in this solid outing for Bond. 007 is sent to stop a diabolically brilliant heroin magnate that’s armed with a complex organisation and a reliable psychic tarot card reader.

Turner & Hooch – 16:40pm on Film4

Get the tissues ready.

Space Jam – 4:45pm on ITV2

MonStars vs the Looney Tunes with Michael Jordan…and Bill Murray. A genuine cult-classic.

How to Train Your Dragon – 5pm on E4

We’re calling it. This is the most under-appreciated films of the decade. It’s fantastic.

Shrek – 5:25pm on TG4

It kicked-off a dynasty that lasted longer than Lord Farquaad’s reign.

Jurassic Park – 6:25pm on ITV2

Is the lawyer that died on the toilet the greatest death in cinema? Well, if you gotta go…

Mrs Doubtfire – 6:25pm on RTÉ2

Robin Williams at his very best.

The Sting – 6:25pm on ITV4

The greatest heist film of all time?

Spectre – 8pm on UTV

Not even close to being as good as Skyfall but it still has its moments.

Billy Elliott – 9pm on BBC2

A talented young boy becomes torn between his unexpected love of dance and the disintegration of his family. It’s just a really nice film

Bridesmaids – 9pm on ITV2

“This is such a stone-cold pack of weirdos, and I am so proud!”

That dress fitting scene will never leave our minds.

Deadpool – 9pm on Film4

The perfect refresher with news that Wade Wilson is gearing up for a third film.

Kill Bill: Volume 2 – 9pm on W

Not as good as the first one but the Elle Driver vs The Bride fight was just as good as anything else in Tarantino’s western/kung-fu saga.

Under Siege 2: Dark Territory – 9pm on ITV4

Bonkers action film number one of the night.

The Running Man – 9PM on SyFy

Bonkers action film number two of the night.

The Inbetweeners Movie – 9:20 on E4

We’re still very curious to see what Richard is up to. Remember him? He’s the really wired lad that flew his parents over to Malia because he was feeling a bit down, or was he up?

Bit of both actually.

The Big Lebowski – 10:55 on TCM

“Obviously you’re not a golfer”

There isn’t a line in this classic by the Coen Brothers that’s not gold.

Executive Decision – 11:10pm on ITV4

Bonkers action film number three of the night.

Due Date – 23:50 on RTÉ2

Worth watching alone for the scene where Robert Downey Jr punches a really annoying kid in the stomach.

Uncle Buck – 00:10 on UTV

A lovely reminder of just how talented John Candy was.

Die Hard 2 – 00:50pm on Film 4

John McClane. The patron saint of Christmas Eve.
