movies on TV

It’s Friday. Friday. Gotta watch a movie on Friday.

Unless of course you’d rather watch The Late Late Show (the lineup is quite good in fairness).

Here are the best movies on TV tonight:

The Bourne Identity – 9pm – Virgin Media One

The first of the Bourne films, where Matt Damon is willing to go to great lengths to figure out who he really is.

Rocky – 9pm – TCM

The movie that launched one of the biggest sporting movie franchises ever, and perhaps the greatest underdog story of all time.

Ghostbusters – 9pm – E4

The female reboot of the iconic film, that appears to be on the TV twice a week at this stage.

The Hangover: Part III – 9pm – ITV 2

Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis are going on a mad one for the third time. Funny, if not a little bit dated.

Unless – 9.40pm – RTÉ 2

A drama based on the novel by Carol Shields, about a writer who struggles with her daughter’s decision to drop out of college and live on the streets.

Mermaids – 10.35pm – RTÉ One

Cher, Winona Ryder, Bob Hoskins and Christina Ricci. What else do you need?

Sausage Party – 11.20pm – Comedy Central

Animated comedy featuring the voice of Seth Rogen that is NOT FOR KIDS. I repeat, NOT FOR KIDS.

Get On Up – 11.30pm – Channel 4

A biopic about the life of soul legend James Brown starring the late, great Chadwick Boseman. Absolutely worth a watch if you’ve never seen it.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
