The Young Offenders Christmas special

This looks fantastic.

Like everyone else this Christmas, we presume that your next few weeks will see you running around like a blue-arsed fly in a desperate bid to get all the last minute shopping and plans together.

Sure, it’s a Christmas tradition.

Isn’t it nice though that between them, RTÉ and BBC3 will be giving everyone a chance to catch up with Ireland’s most beloved langers because as mentioned previously, The Young Offenders aren’t coming down the chimney this holiday season, they’re going to break into your gaff.

Don’t believe us?

Well, the first trailer for Conor and Jock’s festive feckery is finally here and it looks like an absolute riot.

Christmas jumpers, stolen trees, bedpans full of piss, slick dance moves, Santa getting wrestled by Sgt. Healy, shite carol singing, scraps, and a young fella riding around a housing estate on a makeshift reindeer.

Oh yes, this isn’t your usual Christmas!

As for the plot, it’s Christmas week and the residents of the estate where Conor (Alex Murphy), Jock (Chris Walley) and Mairead (Hilary Rose) live have been fighting off an eviction from the council for over a month. The situation has been getting national media coverage and everyone involved is on edge, including the police.

While all this is happening, Mairead has been sick for weeks and has to be taken to hospital, a place Conor and Jock hate. Not knowing how to help, the lads ask Mairead if there’s anything they can get her. Mairead says she’s never seen a white Christmas, so the two friends set off on a chaotic adventure to try make her wish come true.

All the craic unfolds on BBC3 this Friday, 14 December but you can also watch it when The Young Offenders Christmas special airs on RTÉ on Christmas Day.

FYI, BBC Three is an online channel so some people in Ireland won’t be able to see it.

This being said, the show is repeated on BBC One at 23:15 on 23 December and it will air on Irish TV on Christmas Day.

Take a look at what’s in store.
