Hit 90s comedy Roseanne will be returning to our TV screens for a new season

Rory Cashin

During it’s original run from 1988 to 1997, Roseanne was one of the most shows on TV.

Constantly topping viewing charts as well as winning just about every acting and writing and directing award going, and regularly appearing on Greatest TV Shows Of All Time lists, it really was the kind of show that just don’t seem to make anymore, no matter how hard Kevin James tries.

Well, fans should be happy to hear that (according to Deadline), not only the show returning for a series, but a lot of the original cast will be back, too.

Roseanne (Roseanne Barr), Dan (John Goodman), Darlene (Sara Gilbert), and Jackie (Laurie Metcalf) have already signed on for the eight-episode mini-season.

The big hold-outs at the moment are Johnny Gelecki (who played David) probably because he’s still busy with The Big Bang Theory, Sarah Chalke (who played the second version of Becky) who is currently voicing Beth in Rick & Morty, and Sandra Bernhard (who played Nancy) who… we’re sure is busy, too.

The new season is being produced by Barr and Gilbert, and apparently multiple networks are bidding for the rights, including Netflix and the show’s original broadcaster ABC.
