House of the Dragon fans think key character was revealed as a White Walker in series finale

We’ve heard much more outlandish theories.

This article contains spoilers for future seasons of House of the Dragon.

House of the Dragon sealed off its second season this week with a finale that split fans opinions.

The Game of Thrones spin-off has been a huge success thus-far, with some comparing it to the peaks of its predecessor, but the action-free finale has left some fans frustrated.

Despite the mixed reviews, there was one major moment in the final episode and it included a very familiar sight – the White Walkers.

The zombie army made regular appearances throughout Game of Thrones, but this is the first time one has been spotted in the new series, and theories have already began to circulate on what it could mean.

House of the Dragon fans think key character was revealed as a White Walker in series finale

The brief appearance of the White Walkers comes during one of Daemon’s dream sequences.

The Targaryen has been having his own adventure away from the main cast this season, taking up residence in the haunted ruins of Harrenhal while he attempts to form an army.

However, during his time in the creepy castle filled with mystical Weirwood trees, Daemon has many visions, with his latest warning him of the future of mankind, something we saw play out in Game of Thrones.

While we only catch a glimpse of what looks like the infamous Night King, it has since been confirmed that this is not the undead leader, just one of his generals.

However, its appearance has had conspiracies in full swing across the internet, with some saying that it was Daemon himself, noting the similarities in facial features.

For context, in the book written by George R. R. Martin, Daemon dies while battling Aemond and his dragon Vhagar, however his body is never recovered, which is how so many fans are connecting the White Walker theory to him.

“It’s highly possible it’s Daemon Targaryen since he died in the Gods eye and his carcass wasn’t burnt. So since the King is capable of resurrection of the dead irrespective of the time then it could be Daemon,” one fan wrote.

“The resemblance of the White Walker and Daemon is beyond coincidence. Look at their profiles side-by-side. The White Walker is definitely a Targaryen… he has always wanted to be the King. Maybe he does get to be one, and ‘play his role,’ as mentioned in his prophecy,” another said.

“I knew it wasn’t Night King, but is it Daemon?” a third added.

While it’s definitely a stretch to say that the White Walker seen in the show was indeed Daemon, it’s definitely not the most outlandish theory you’ll ever hear.

Also, part of the fun of Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon has been the many theories from fans, it’s all mostly harmless speculation.

We’re sure those theories will continue to flourish over the next while as there’s a long wait in store for season three of House of the Dragon, with the series expected to return in mid 2026.
