The first trailer has dropped and it has some real True Detective vibes to it.
Chris Pine and director Patty Jenkins obviously developed a great working relationship when they worked together on Wonder Woman, because not only are they both back for Wonder Woman 1984 (despite the fact that... well... you know), but he's also been cast as the lead in I Am The Night, which Jenkins is executive producer on, as well as director of the first two episodes.
The show tells the incredible story of Fauna Hodel (India Eisley) who was given away at birth. As she begins to investigate the secrets to her past, she teams up with Jay Singletary (Pine), a former Marine-turned-hack-reporter/paparazzo, and together they follow a sinister trail that swirls ever closer to an infamous Hollywood gynecologist, Dr. George Hodel (Jefferson Mays), a man involved in the darkest Hollywood debauchery.
The whole plot is apparently somehow tied into the real-life Black Dahlia murder case, as well as several other high-profile events that actually did take place in Hollywood back in the 1940s and 50s.
From the trailer, it looks like we can expect a well-acted creep-fest, as Eisley and Pine delve further and further into a twisted, True Detective-meets-Hannibal sinister complicated plot that they may never fully escape from.
Yep, we're in!
