The 45-year-old was the frontrunner to take over from Daniel Craig, until now.
Idris Elba has broken his silence by finally revealing that he will not be the one to take over the role of the world's most famous spy, James Bond.
The media has been shrouded in rumours as of late, convinced that Elba was destined to be the next 007. Elba himself has even played along to an extent, posting a series of cryptic tweets about the role.

This was perpetuated by Bond producer Barbara Brocolli when she stated her belief that it was time to hire a black actor for the role.
However, this seems to be just another example of why you shouldn't believe everything on the internet – as the Luther actor has recently come out and definitively shut down the rumours.
Elba was finally asked face-to-face about the growing speculation on Tuesday night as he walked the red carpet at the London premiere of his new film Yardie, and his response was not what fans were hoping for.
Asked by Good Morning Britain if he would prefer his Martini shaken or stirred, he replied: “Stir-fried, actually.”
The reporter then asked if they were looking at “the next 007?” to which Elba simply replied: “No”.
