It’s the last day of February.
March is ready to spring into gear.
Let’s see what movies we have on TV on this Monday evening, shall we?
Fire Down Below – TCM – 9pm
Steven Seagal fights for the good of the environment.
It Follows – Horror Channel – 9pm
Our main choice this evening is one of the best horrors of the last decade.
Following a sexual encounter with her new boyfriend, Jay (Maika Monroe) finds herself patiently stalked by a supernatural entity that can take the form of anyone around her.
It Follows is easily one of the most enjoyable modern horrors, managing to utilise the ‘hey, we loved the 1980s’ aesthetic craze without overdoing it, mixing in an excellent music score and genuinely frightening set pieces.
It’s even pretty scary when nothing is happening, such is the tense atmosphere. Get on it.
Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit – Film4 – 9pm
It Follows is much better, watch that instead of this.
Salt – TG4 – 9.30pm
Angelina Jolie is a CIA agent on the run.
Armageddon – ITV4 – 10pm
Wouldn’t it have made more sense to train astronauts to become drillers and not the other way around?
Layer Cake – Film4 – 11.05pm
Slick drug dealer Daniel Craig attempts to maximise profits and stay alive amidst London’s treacherous criminal underworld.
The Goonies – TCM – 1.05am
Late night treasure-based adventure.
LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
