It is their first major TV roles since Friends and The Office.
Netflix. Amazon Prime Video. Now TV. Soon to be Disney+. And now we've got Apple TV.
And you might be thinking "There can't be anything good enough to make me sign up to ANOTHER streaming service..." but we are here to tell you that because of The Morning Show, you couldn't be more wrong.
It brings together the impressive cast of Jennifer Aniston (in her first major TV role since Friends), Steve Carrell (ditto, but since The Office), Reece Witherspoon (killing it on the small screen thanks to Big Little Lies), Billy Crudup (Watchmen), Mark Duplass (Creep), and Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Black Mirror: San Junipero).
Behind the camera, the 10-episode series is directed by folks behind the likes of The Leftovers, The Devil Wears Prada, and GLOW, while the show itself tells the story of morning news presenter (Aniston) and her show's freefall when her co-host (Carrell) is presented with a career-ending scandal. While the producers try to keep a lid on things, they also attempt to groom a new presenter (Witherspoon) to take over the show entirely.
It also deals with the difficulties of producing and presenting a show about breaking news, when everyone has immediate and constant access to the world's news in the palm of their hand.
A killer cast, a brilliant crew, and a series of hot topic talking points to pin the show around? Yep, looks like we'll all be signing up for Apple TV's service before long, too.
There is no set release date The Morning Show beyond "this fall", but we'd guess it will be become the most-binged new show right around Halloween.
