John Boyega is the man we all want to be pals with (he has 6 lightsabers for feck’s sake)

We all want to be John Boyega’s friend. Not only because he’s talented and down-to-earth and hangs out with Yoda – but he owns SIX lightsabers.

The 23-year-old actor, who has been cast in the role of Finn in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ – the eagerly-awaited sequel in the sci-fi franchise, has been collecting props as mementos from the movie.

Boyega plans to keep one for himself and give the other five away to certain people.

Speaking to the latest issue of The Hollywood Reporter, he said: “Let me go to my room. I have one, two, three, four, five lightsabers. Wait, there’s one on the floor. Six lightsabers. Lightsabers I’m going to give away to certain people when I see them.

“There is one that is open to just swing around a few seconds when I walk around the house.”

London-born John and fellow Brit newcomer Daisy Ridley – who plays the new character Rey in the film – were unknown actors, but are now getting to grips with millions of people knowing their names and having their own figurines.

Boyega jumped over the sofa when he saw the latest Star Wars trailer with sheer disbelief and excitement, while Ridley was filmed crying when she saw it. Are they prepared for being thrust into the galaxy of superstardom?

Boyega said: “I think the major thing is I’ve had a life before. Two years ago I wouldn’t have sworn this was a conversation I would be having. So it hasn’t taken over my life just yet. As actors we have to try to maintain some sort of balance. I think in the coming months that will change and I’ll know exactly what the dynamics are. But for now, there hasn’t been anything that has completely changed the way my whole life works.”
