The director of the horror sequel gushed about his time with the Irish actor.
If you haven't seen A Quiet Place yet, then we fully recommend you do, as it is one of the best horror movies of recent years.
There was talk that it might be a one-and-done movie, but after the original made so much money ($340 million on a $19 million budget), we were all very happy to find out that star / co-writer / director John Krasinski would be back for the sequel... behind the camera at least.
We've known for a while now that Cillian Murphy had joined the cast of the upcoming horror sequel, but when JOE had the opportunity to chat to Krasinski about it, of course we jumped at the chance.
We were in London to talk all things Jack Ryan Season 2 (more on that in the next few days and weeks), and chatted to new cast additions Noomi Rapace (Prometheus) and Michael Kelly (House Of Cards), as well as Krasinski and his on-screen partner Wendell Pierce (The Wire).
The conversation turned to all things Irish (again, more on that soon!), but we did ask Krasinski about his time working with Murphy on the movie:
"I'm still in mourning that our time has ended together as co-workers. But he is, without a doubt, one of the greatest actors and people I've ever worked with. He is an incredibly special, special person.
"Luckily, in his thank you note for doing the movie, he said 'Here's to seeing you soon, hope we stay pals', and I went 'Oh my God, he still wants to be friends!' I turned into a high school kid right away.
"He's an epic human being and I can't wait to see him again."
A Quiet Place 2 arrives in Irish cinemas on 20 March 2020 (not long to go!), while Jack Ryan Season 2 premieres on Prime Video on Friday 1 November.
