John Wick Chapter 3 will be the longest film in the franchise

John Wick 3 running time

Guns. Lots of guns.

We’re very hyped about the return of John Wick.

What was originally expected to be a fairly one-and-done affair, boasting a silly title and plot (evildoers killed retired hitman’s dog, he’s not pleased about it) and a movie star that many felt was a spent force.

And then we saw John Wick and fell in love with its glorious brand of stylised violence, seemingly endless bloodlust for head shots and the welcome resurrection of its leading man.

The sequel went bigger, bolder and arguably better, concluding on an ominous note that brought ’70s paranoia thrillers to mind, if you’ll allow us to be that pretentious.

Clearly, this thing needed one more chapter, and we’re getting it next month.

John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum arrives on 17 May. Exciting.

Here’s the trailer, in case you missed it:

Yep, it looks wonderful. We’re all in. Dogs, ninjas, carnage, oh my.

With the news that Avengers: Endgame will be just over three hours long, you may wonder where John Wick will land on the old running time score.

The first one was trim enough, clocking in at a tight 101 minutes.

The second one, expanding the world, ran for 122 minutes.

And now we know that the latest adventure will be the longest yet.

According to the reliable British Board of Film Classification (BBFC), John Wick Chapter 3 is a whopping 131 minutes long.

Two hours and 11 minutes of Keanu murdering the entire world, presumably.

That BBFC rating is a 15 for “strong, bloody violence” so you can likely expect a 16 over here when the Irish Film Classification Office gets around to it.

Roll on next month…
