We defy you not to laugh at this first teaser for Emily Blunt and The Rock’s new movie Jungle Cruise

Rory Cashin

Two of Hollywood’s most likeable people trying their hardest to make each other giggle.

Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson don’t immediately seem like a likely on-screen duo.

Blunt is one of the best actresses today, and Johnson is our generation’s biggest action star.

However, it is easy to forget that Blunt is also a dab hand at comedy (The Devil Wears Prada) and action (Edge Of Tomorrow) and horror (A Quiet Place), while Johnson is one of the only men who can act alongside a giant monkey (Rampage) or a giant earthquake (San Andreas) or a giant Vin Diesel (Fast Five) and make it seem believable.

And then seeing their immediate chemistry on the first bit of on-set footage from Jungle Cruise makes it seem like a match made in heaven.

Much like Pirates Of The Caribbean, the movie is actually based on a theme park ride in DisneyLand, but hopefully unlike the franchise, it won’t just be one great movie followed by some terrible sequels.

The movie is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (The Shallows, Unknown), and will co-star Jesse Plemons (Breaking Bad, Game Night), Edgar Ramirez (American Crime Story, The Girl On The Train), and Paul Giamatti (Billions, 12 Years A Slave).

We have a bit to wait yet, as Jungle Cruise does not have an Irish release date, but will arrive in US cinemas on 11 October 2019, but you check out the first teaser right here:
